Alia Besharat is an associate at Ogletree Deakins’ Toronto office. Her practices encompasses a broad range of employment matters including employment standards issues, human rights claims, severance disputes and advisory work. Alia is committed to providing employers with sound advice regarding all aspects of workplace law.
Alia currently serves on the Executive of the Ontario Bar Association’s Labour and Employment Section. She is also an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association of Ontario. Alia enjoys and provides regular commentary to The Globe and Mail Nine to Five column regarding common workplace issues.
Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Alia practiced employment litigation at a plaintiff-side firm. This gives her a unique understanding and provides for exceptional client service when acting in an advisory capacity.
Alia attended the University of Leicester School of Law where she was involved with the Canadian Law Society and the Mooting Society. Alia enjoys spending time with friends and family and exploring new restaurants and cities.
