Ryan T. Smith

Ryan is an associate at Ogletree Deakins’ Montreal office, having previously completed a summer internship with the firm. Ryan has dedicated his academic and professional career to the representation of employers and helping them navigate the complexities of labor relations.

A proud alumnus of the University of Montreal, Ryan holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, complemented by a Master of Industrial Relations from the prestigious Queen’s University. His academic journey began at McGill University, where he earned a B.A. in Industrial Relations, graduating with distinction.

During his academic pursuits, Ryan distinguished himself in various arbitrations, mediations and collective bargaining simulations, showcasing his passion for labour relations. During his undergraduate studies, Ryan gained valuable practical experience at a major Canadian airline, by being involved in numerous labor and health and safety matters. In his spare time, Ryan would train with the McGill Triathlon Club and compete in various triathlon races.

Ryan’s unique blend of in-house experience within a Labor Relations department and his tenure at a renowned Montreal law firm has instilled in him a deep appreciation for timely, practical solutions.
