Ed Majewski advises employers on a broad range of employment issues, including pre-employment and hiring issues, employment contracts, workplace policies, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, corporate restructurings, dismissals and lay-offs, severance packages, employment standards legislation compliance, and human rights law obligations. He also advises employers regarding unionization, grievance arbitrations, and collective bargaining.

Ed has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario. He also represents clients at various administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal.

  • Kitchener Frame Ltd. v. CAW-Canada, 2009 CanLII 32696; CAW v. Kitchener Frame Ltd., 2010 ONSC 3890:  co-counsel in successful defense of grievance and judicial review application regarding ‘actuarially unreduced pension benefit’ exemption to statutory severance pay
  • Awan v. Loblaw Companies, 2009 HRTO 1046:  successfully defended employer and manager named as personal respondent against discrimination/harassment allegations
  • UNIFOR Local 341-0 v. BASF Canada Inc. (Long Term Disability Benefits Offset), December 2014:  successfully argued employer’s interpretation of CPP benefits offset for LTD benefits
  • Pizzamiglio v. J.H. Ryder Machinery, 2006 CanLII 36862 (ON LRB):  dismissal of wrongful termination case where employee accused of conflict of interest
