TORONTO – April 1, 2019 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the world’s largest labour and employment law firms representing management, is expanding its global presence to Montréal with the addition of Lucie Guimond, who will join the firm as a partner. Guimond has a well-established practice that is exclusively focused on labour and employment law and includes advocacy and advisory work for both provincially and federally regulated employers in the private and public sectors. Guimond represents clients in the airline, food, retail, manufacturing, and distribution industries. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Guimond was a partner in a national Canadian firm well known for its labour and employment law experience, and most recently led her own firm.
“As we continue to serve clients across Canada, establishing a presence in Montréal with a talented and pragmatic professional like Lucie is a natural response to client demand,” said Hugh Christie, managing partner of Ogletree Deakins’ Canadian operations. “We know Lucie well for her skill, responsiveness, and collaboration and are very excited to have her join our practice at Ogletree.”
Backed by 30 years of experience, Guimond represents clients in both English and French language proceedings, and frequently provides employment and labour law advice on sales and mergers of businesses. Guimond also counsels her clients on individual and collective labour relations, occupational health and safety, privacy law, and human rights. She has extensive experience with worker’s compensation issues and related litigation and is highly regarded by her clients for her negotiation skills and practical wisdom. Guimond is first and foremost a business partner for her clients and is constantly striving to arrive at novel solutions in order to achieve conflict resolution.
